If required, BUSY Ability can provide access to funding through the Employment Assistance Fund (see below for further info) for any necessary work modifications to ensure your new employee is fully equipped to perform their role. These include special computer equipment, modifications to the work area and other physical adjustments.
A physical adjustment refers to any change made to the structure, surrounds, or furniture and fittings within a workplace to remove barriers and improve access for people with disability.
In most instances, physical changes needed to improve access are minor. Things like moving desks, purchasing ergonomic furniture, or installing brighter lighting. Very occasionally a more significant adjustment might be needed, such as installation of a ramp, automatic door opener, or visual fire alarm.

The Employment Assistance Fund (EAF) provides financial help to eligible people with disability and mental health conditions and employers to buy work-related modifications including equipment, Auslan services and other workplace assistance and support services. When you employ a BUSY Ability customer, our goal is to ensure a smooth transition to long-term employment. This is achieved via Post Placement Support, which can be tailored to suit the employee’s needs. Post Placement Support can be as simple as a phone call, workplace catch up, or even assisting the employee with training to enhance their performance in the role.
We work with you and your new employee to address any challenges that may arise in the early stages of employment. For the first six months, we offer tailored support to ensure the employee is performing well and you, the employer, are satisfied. If additional assistance is needed beyond this period, we are ready to explore further options together.
This service is funded by the Australian Government and comes at no cost to you or your employee. Our mission is to support skills needs for employers and foster independence and successful and productive career paths for individuals.
If you have a current employee with an injury, illness or disability, we can also provide access to support services to assist them to remain in employment.
We work with you and your employee to get the best outcome for both.

Wage subsidies may be available to businesses that hire eligible individuals into ongoing jobs. There are differing types of wage subsidies available and BUSY Ability can assist you in securing the applicable subsidy for your new employee.
