From 2016-2018, Tyreece was a Leading Cadet of the Australian Royal Air Force Cadets and fulfilled his duties of setting up camp, participating in team building activities, following strict safety requirements, participating in emergency practice drills and marching in parades.

After graduating from Wilson Park High School in 2020, Tyreece dreamt of working at a place where he could meet new people and earn a wage.

Tyreece is a participant in the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and lives with an Intellectual Impairment and ADHD.

Becoming a client of BUSY Ability, Tyreece received intensive support in becoming job ready and in reaching his dream of financial independence. After twelve months of support, Tyreece has now secured employment at Dan Murphy’s Lismore.

Excited to attend every work shift, Tyreece has built a great rapport with all staff and says his fellow staff members are very welcoming and accommodating.

“I really like my teammates as they are all so helpful, but I love it even more when I see someone I know and they are happy to see me working.”

Tyreece thoroughly enjoys his job (and the fact he gets his very own locker key), and he wears both his uniform and name badge with pride.

BUSY Ability helped Tyreece improve his employability and social skills to assist him when applying for jobs, including handing out his resume to local employers in the region.

The assistance received from his Employment Support Planner helped increase his confidence and prepare him for the workforce.

“My Employment Support Planner, Shelley, has taught me a lot, especially how to conduct myself in an interview,” said Tyreece.

As a result of his new secure job and steady income, Tyreece is in the process of saving for his first house and would also really like to travel.

Shelley commented on Tyreece’s progress, saying, “He has come such a long way since he first joined BUSY Ability. Tyreece has pride, confidence and joy in all that he does and I am very proud to work alongside him.”

CEO for BUSY Ability, Jason Shield, stated, “BUSY Ability offer a range of supports for eligible NDIS participants which are specifically tailored to meet the individual’s employment goals.

“We are incredibly pleased Tyreece has not only reached those goals, but is also making new goals. We’re also really happy that BUSY Ability has played a part in helping Tyreece secure financial independence and social connection through work.”

Tyreece is achieving his goals, thanks to NDIS Employment Support services through BUSY Ability.
